"Karen came to us after we just about gave up on our exhaustive search trying to find a second home outside of NYC. We began our search in earnest this past December 2020 after continually doom scrolling the dire state of COVID infections and loss of life both here and around the world. We braved last summer in Brooklyn dutifully clad in masks while infection numbers soared, ambulance sirens roared and reading the NYT?s tireless reporting of the death toll that would not abate. We were all over the place. Should we escape to Hudson County , The Poconos, The North Fork, or Litchfield County? We did not know what 2021 would bring but we did know one thing for sure.. we needed a respite, a safe haven, nature and each other. We came to the conclusion that all of our desired destinations were lovely but what we lacked was a residential real estate professional ?in the know? with tenacity, patience, local knowledge and last but not least -a sense of humor that could go the distance with us and our two dogs on our fast and furious search to find a home. Having owned five houses together, over the past 20 years, our search criteria was basic? or so we thought. The house had to have a view of a valley, a mountain or some kind of water element. Given the uncertainty of the pandemic, and unlike our previous homes, we also did not want to spend months attempting to renovate or repair a home with the added costs of materials and the burden of finding qualified craftspeople. We found Karen after we made the wise decision of picking Litchfield County and selecting a LOCAL realtor, Drakeley Real Estate. We had the good fortune of being referred to Karen by one of the principals? -Tim Drakeley. During our initial phone introduction in late January I knew that Karen was the one that could help us get it done! We began working with Karen in the dead of winter and would drive up from Brooklyn EVERY Saturday morning with our lunches packed and two mini-golden doodles in tow. Regardless of the weather, our frustration and at times our irrational desperation, Karen remained a steady guiding force with incredible knowledge, unfailing wit and a clever sense of humor that was very instrumental in our final buying decision. At times Karen knew us better than we knew ourselves and the home we purchased was a home that she recommended. We had seen the house online but dismissed it for reasons that don?t make sense today.
