Personal

As a 3rd generation Nantucketer, I have always been a student of Nantucket history and possess a lifetime of local experience. I'm able to provide a unique perspective to my island home. I grew up working in my family's business, Young's Bicycle Shop, which I ran and ultimately bought in 1981. In 1997 I sold it to my brother Harvey. Many of my first clients came to me through those years of retail service. In 1982 I did an 8 lot subdivision, Young's Way, that lead me to start my full-time real estate career. After 33 years at Killen Real Estate, I joined William Raveis in 2019.I am the father of two who make me proud everyday. Between them I have 3 grand children who are the delight of my life. I love the outdoors and all of Nantucket's natural beauty. I enjoy all the seasons. Biking in the moors has been a favorite pastime throughout my adult life. I travel in the off season as time allows, driving multiple times across this great country and flying around the world, but no matter where I go I am always happiest when I return to my roots, my Nantucket home.

Community Involvement

I served on my first non profit board in the late 1970s. The Nantucket Land Council advocates for the protection of the island's environmental and natural resources with a 40 year focus on protecting our sole source aquifer. I then served throughout the 80s on the Nantucket Historical Association's advisory council. in 1995 I became NHA Trustee serving for 9 years. During this period we raised the required money and constructed the new Whaling museum. We also renovated and re-purposed the Fair Street Museum to house our research library. Committee assignments included; Library Building, Development, Membership, Properties and Nominating committees with continued committee work for many years afterward as a former trustee. Former treasurer for the Friends of The Nantucket Historical Assoc. 2013-2023 Former Trustee of Cushing Acedemy, Ashburnham MA. founded as a private co-educational boarding school in 1865. Coached a variety of youth sports during my children's school years, Soccer, Basketball and Little League 1987-1994
