Born, raised, and educated in Finland, Riitta began her career at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki before transferring to New York City to work at the Permanent Mission of Finland to the United Nations. While Riitta's personal favorite is the simplicity and clean lines of modern Scandinavian design and designers, she also has a deep appreciation for historical styles - Empire, Gustavian, Biedermeier, Baroque, and Rococo - all of which were seamlessly blended into her ancestral home. After moving to Connecticut with her husband following the birth of their first son, Riitta fell in love with the area's vibrant communities and easy access to New York City. Together, they raised two sons through Darien and Greenwich public and private schools, active in local and elite sports programs. In her free time, Riitta is a passionate fitness enthusiast, having competed in snowboarding, and now enjoys weightlifting and rowing, sunrise runs at Tod's Point, yoga, meditation by the ocean - and, true to her Finnish roots, enjoying sauna for both physical and mental restoration.
